Managing Partner, Robert Ayan supporting science diplomacy in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State

The United States Department of State is making good on President Barack Obama’s infamous pledge during his June 2009 Cairo speech to improve relations with middle eastern and asian countries on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect in order to turn a new page in relations that have too often been defined by military interventions and political confrontations.  Supporting that initiative has involved designing and developing a series of programs starting with a number of stakeholder gatherings to identify the best way to work together for the common benefit of the United States and the countries that are the subject of this form of science diplomacy.  The initiative, known as the Global Innovation through Science and Technology, or GIST, has held a series of stakeholders meetings to launch its programs, including idea competitions and entrepreneurship competitions in Egypt, Malaysia and Morocco.  Managing Partner Robert Ayan has been involved in the initiative to support the efforts of the U.S. Department of State and ultimately fulfill President Barack Obama’s policy objectives to utilize science diplomacy to improve international relations and achieve greater economic and social prosperity.
